Equuscience™ Focus Course:

The Neurobiology of Learning

Group of Belorussian horses outdoor in a meadow in summertime.

Dr. Steve Peters and Sarah Schlote

Sunday, December 3, 2023

8am – 11am PST (3 hours)

Join us as we focus our attention on understanding some of the science behind how horses (and humans!) learn. This class will cover the connections between emotion and learning, relevant brain anatomy and neurochemistry, how learning occurs all the way down to a cellular level, and the role of moderate emotional arousal in neuroplasticity. We will also discuss how misconceptions about the nervous system can lead to misunderstandings related to horse training, setting optimal conditions for learning, and the importance of tracking somatic patterning, thresholds, and state shifts within a neuroception of safety.

Students will have access to the recording for 3 months following the end of the course. Please review the Audio Visual Release and Waiver prior to completing your registration.
